(OTTAWA) Tax-Filer Empowerment Canada (TFEC) is pleased to announce that The North West Company has become the Association’s newest member with Dan Bernaerdt becoming a member of the Board.
As one of the largest tax preparation companies serving residents in Northern Canada, the addition of The North West Company significantly expands TFEC’s geographical coverage while bringing unique perspectives on the tax filing needs of taxpayers in Northern and remote communities.
“The North West Company’s expertise in providing tax services to taxpayers outside of Canada’s larger population centres strengthens TFEC and brings an additional perspective to the table in our partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency,” says Dan Pfeffer, TFEC Executive Director. “We look forward to benefitting from their experiences.”
“Tax filers in Northern and rural communities have unique interests and perspectives that must be shared with CRA and other government authorities,” says Dan Bernaerdt, Director, Financial Services at North West Company. “Through our membership in TFEC, we will bring these perspectives to help ensure fair and efficient tax filing for Canadians, no matter where they live.”
In addition to providing tax preparation services, The North West Company, through its subsidiaries, is a leading retailer of food and everyday products and services to rural communities and urban neighbourhoods in Canada, Alaska, the South Pacific and the Caribbean.
Formed in 2018, TFEC is the national industry association for Canada’s tax preparation and software industry. TFEC is dedicated to promoting greater collaboration between government stakeholders, including the CRA and Revenu Québec, industry, and Canadian taxpayers. The Association is committed to ensuring that all Canadians have access to impartial, accurate and accessible tax preparation and software options provided by industry in partnership with governments.
